I pulled over and my thought was confirmed as my driver side rear tire was shredded. At 73 years old, two replaced knees, and dressed for that meeting I was in no position to change that tire. I am a member of AAA Auto Club and I called for help. They stated that it would take about 45 minutes to get someone there. I settled into wait then after about 15 minutes a man in a truck pulled up and almost simultaneously another man pulled up on an all terrain vehicle. They were extremely friendly and without my asking they offered to change the tire for me. I told them that AAA was supposed to be on the way, but they still insisted on doing the tire for me. After talking for a short time and AAA still not in sight I agreed that it would be very nice if they would change the tire.
The gentlemen indentified themselves as Greg Edwards and Dale Carter. Obviously I asked them what I owed them, but they said my thanks was pay enough and that I owed them nothing. Now the purpose of this letter is to confirm in writing what an outstanding Christian, act that the above named men performed for me.
I hope that these nice men will see this letter in your newspaper, as I do not know how to write to them, as I do not have their addresses. This type of Southern Hospitality is not seen very often now days. What great ambassadors they are for Appling County. Thank you so much for placing this in your paper.
With best regards,
I sincerely remain,
J. Daniel Shuman,
County Commissioner
