Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Apr. 4, answered a call to Murphy Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated his storage building had been broken into and several items were taken, valued at approximately $500.00. Investigation continues.
Apr. 5, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a vehicle in a pond incident. A complainant stated while driving his vehicle, he dropped his cell phone and while trying to retrieve it, he ran his vehicle in the pond.
Apr. 6, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a financial identity fraud incident. The complainant stated there is a computer scam taking money from victims. Investigation continues.
Apr. 7, answered a call to Manning Williams Road, which led to the arrest of Tyler Ray Harrelson, 18, of Baxley, Christopher Warren Brannen, 26, and Bobby Shane Wilcox, 34, of Baxley. Harrelson was charged with VGCSA, crack cocaine and driving while license withdrawn. Brannen was charged with VGCSA, crack cocaine and littering highway, and Wilcox was charged with VGCSA, crack cocaine.
Apr. 9, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a house fire. The Baxley Fire Department and officers responded to a fully engulfed house fire. The fire marshal was contacted. The fire is currently under investigation. The house was taped off by crime scene tape and two individuals crossed the tape. Kesha Lynn Meeks, 35, of Baxley, and Michael Chase Howell, 28, of Baxley, were both charged with criminal trespass.
Apr. 9, answered a call to Gamble Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated that the front door to residence was torn open and several items valued at $650.00 had been taken. Investigation continues.
Apr. 11, answered a call to Michael Lake Road/Patterson in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his shelter were items valued at approximately $2,500.00. Investigation continues.
Apr. 12, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report an identity theft incident. The complainant stated he filed his taxes with a local agency and they notified him that someone had already filed his taxes using his name. The IRS was notified and an investigation continues.
Apr. 12, answered a call to Oak Ridge in reference to entering an auto to commit a theft. The complainant stated she had left her purse in her vehicle and the car alarm went off and she discovered $700.00 in cash had been taken from her purse. Investigation continues.
Apr. 12, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft by deception incident. The complainant stated he went on the internet and bought a boat. The complainant sent a money order to the designated payee and he still has not received the boat. Investigation continues.
Apr. 12, answered a call to Highway 121 of Surrency in reference to a theft. A complainant stated he had a theft from two of his rental houses. Taken were a half-ton air condition unit, a washer and dryer and a window air-condition unit. Investigation continues.
