Joseph Henry Powell died January 5, 2011. Mr. Powell was born June 5, 1949 in Baxley to the late Elder Plummer and Lillian Powell.
Mr. Powell is survived by three sons, Santwan (Pacilla) Powell, Jonathan Powell and Twan (Monica) Hughes, all of Brunswick; six grandchildren; three special daughters, Kay Rhonda Robinson, Keisha Robinson both of Brunswick and Dana Thomas of South Carolina; five sisters, Mary Turner of Detroit, Michigan, Elder Verna Mazac of Stone Mt., Sarah Powell, Lenda (Dale) Butler, both of Baxley, and Minister Glenda (Steven) Burse of Waycross; three sisters-in-law, Irene Powell of Atlanta, Ethel Powell of Tennessee and Janice Powell of Vidalia; two aunts, Aretha Brock of Wabasso, Fla. and Evangelist Laurene Tunnel of Mableton; two uncles, Elder David Eldell of Alabama and the Rev. Richard Black of Wabasso, Fla.; special friend, Vanessa Gibbs of Baxley; special nieces and nephews, Blessinz Blake, Fabulous Williams, Nino Williams and Wendell Williams and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 in the chapel of C. M. Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Sherwood Gibbs officiating. Eulogy was given by Pastor Gloria Hood. The memorialization was by cremation.
Musical selections were rendered by Brittany Brookins, Barbara Hall and Robin Brookins.
Arrangements were under the direction of C. M. Brown Funeral Home.
