The Appling County Lady Pirate basketball team (13-17 overall) qualified for the State AA Playoffs by reaching the final four of the Region 2AA Playoffs. The Lady Pirates are the number four seed from the region and will travel to face Region 1AA top seed Brooks County (21-6) in the first round of the State Playoffs on Friday, February 24 with the game set to start at 6:00 p.m.
Region 2AA Tournament
The Lady Pirates were the number eight seed in the Region 2AA tournament and play Toombs County (5-18) in the first round on Monday, February 13 winning by a score of 45-38.
The Lady Pirates next round game would come against McIntosh County Academy (11-15) on Tuesday, February 14 with the Lady Pirates winning 50-48.
The Lady Pirates next round game came against Brantley County (16-9) on Thursday, February 16 with the Lady Pirates getting the win 59-43 and advancing to the final four and securing a spot in the State AA Playoffs.
The Lady Pirates played top seeded Jeff Davis (24-2) in the final four on Friday, February 17 and would come up short losing 29-53.
The Lady Pirates would play Vidalia (18-9) in the consolation game on Saturday, February 18 and lose 32-60.
Congratulations to Briyanna Brantley being named second team all region. Alexus Boles and Zina Bryant were also named as all region honorable mention.
