At a recent meeting of the Baxley Lions Club, Appling County Schools Superintendent, Scarlett Copeland, gave a PowerPoint presentation concerning the E-SPLOST-4 VOTE. The vote will coincide with the Super Tuesday vote for Presidential Preference on March 6.
The E-SPLOST-4 is a continuation of previous Special Purpose Local Option Sales Taxes of the past 15 years. It will not increase the present sales tax, but it will generate as much as 20 million dollars for education over the next five years. The money will be used for School building renovations, Technology updating, Textbooks and Transportation. These were all enumerated in her report.
Superintendent Copeland thanked the Baxley Lions for their support of education in Appling County and encouraged each member to vote on March 6. The motto of the Lions Club is: We Serve.
