The Appling Christian Academy Lady Eagles overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat Shiloh Hills Christian School in the GCAA State Championship game in McDonough on Saturday, February 11. The game featured a battle of two powerhouse teams in the conference going head to head.
The game was a back and forth affair with plenty of tense and exciting moments for the Baxley team. In the end, the ACA Lady Eagles held on to win a state championship in the Georgia Christian Athletic Association. In the semi final game leading up to the state championship match up, the Lady Eagles defeated Kings Way Christian Academy easily by a score of 62-38.
In the Saturday championship match up, the Lady Eagles outmanned the Shiloh Hills Christian team by a score of 57-51 to win the state crown. Leading scorers in the semi-final game and the championship game were Christin Beasley, Victoria Cox, and Lindsey Johnson. Sarah Dhaliwal led all players in rebounds. The Lady Eagles ended their season with a perfect 18-0 record.
The Eagles varsity boys ended up runner up and region champions in the GCAA. They won their semi final game only to lose in a close contest with Grace Christian in the championship nightcap game of the Georgia Athletic Association of Christian Schools State Tournament in McDonough this past Saturday. The boys’ varsity ended their season with an impressive 16-4 record.
