Mrs. Willie Lee Pendarvis, 80, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at her residence. Willie Lee was born in Appling County on Sept. 25, 1930 and had resided here all of her life. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Baxley and Annie Merle Medders. She was the daughter of the late Mark Leon King and the late Emma Lou Barnes.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Vickers and husband, Jack of Tennessee and Brenda Turner and husband, Stevie of Baxley; sons, James “Noonie” Carter, Rodney Carter and wife, Debra of Baxley, Johnny Pendarvis and wife, Tammy, all of Baxley and Donald Pendarvis and wife, Kim of Cartersville; one step-daughter, Linda Pendarvis of Baxley; six sisters, Nellie Faye Griffin, Clara Vickers, Eleanor Strickland, Emma Lee Stone, Rhoda Jane Roberson and Flora Hutchinson, all of Baxley; three brothers, Thomas J. King, Mark King Jr. and J.W. King, all of Baxley; fifteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and special friend, Pat Carter Gills.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Tyson and Bobby Brinkley officiating. Interment followed in Appling Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Randy Roberson, Earl Griffin Jr., Jeffery King, Brad King, Robert Strickland and Mark Lee King.
Honorary pallbearers were staff of Community Hospice.
Musical selections were rendered by Jo Anne and Joseph Switzer.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
