The Appling County Pirates (10-9 Overall, 5-8 Region 2AA) started the week hosting the Pierce County Bears (1-18, 0-12) on Friday, January 27. The Pirates were able to end a three game losing streak winning by a score of 71-55.
Leading scorers for the Pirates were Ibn Sumner 17, Kevin Johnson 17, Jordan Vann 13, Ronald Handsome 10, Anthony Rayner six, Heisman Johnson five, LeShawn Mobley two and Travis McNeil one.

Pirates defeat Bears, lose to Bucs
The Pirates next game would come on the road against the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers (10-12, 9-5) on Saturday, January 28. The Pirates would come up just short losing 65-68. Leading the Pirates in scoring was Ibn Sumner 33, Jordan Vann eight, Kevin Johnson seven, Ronald Handsome six, Anthony Rayner six, Heisman Johnson two, Steve Crayton two and C.J. Alexander one.
The Pirates next game is scheduled for Tuesday, January 31 at home against the Toombs County Bulldogs (6-9, 4-7).
The Pirates will then travel to face the Pierce County Bears on Friday, February 3.
Both games are scheduled to start after the Lady Pirate games that are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
