Estelle Beecher McLain, 80, died February 18, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. McLain was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Brunswick and had lived in Baxley for two years. She was married to the late Hubert McLain. Estelle was the daughter of the late Collis and Alma Beecher. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Zula Branch.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny (Linda) McLain of Baxley, Earl (Debbie) McLain of Huntsville, AL and Lance (Amy) McLain of Blackshear; three sisters, Carolyn (Grady) Branch, Merle Mason and Patsy (Buck) Buchannon, all of Baxley; one brother, Russell (Joanne) Beecher; one brother-in-law, Bill Branch of Baxley; eight grandchildren: Shane McLain, Ashlee Fountain, Dustin McLain, Austin McLain, Leslie McLain, Haley Newsome, Chelsea McLain and Reagan McLain; and two great-grandchildren, Tucker McLain and Bailee Fountain.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Hurst officiating. Eulogy was given by Lance McLain. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Daniels, David Eason, Greg Tillman, Eddie Rentz, Buck Buchannan and Ricky Beecher.
Honorary pallbearers were nursery workers of Pine Ridge Baptist Church, members of the Georgia State Patrol and co-workers of the Coca Cola Company.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and Julie Brown.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
