Undercover work nets drug dealers
According to Baxley Police Chief James Godfrey, officers from the Baxley Police Department and the Appling County Sheriff’s Office assisted officers from the Altamaha Drug Task Force and the G.B.I. in serving several arrest warrants on offenders who had sold illicit drugs to undercover agents.
BUSTED!
These arrests are the result of several months of undercover operations, conducted in the City of Baxley and Appling County.
Arrested were Steven Bernard Fletcher, 46, on two counts of V.G.C.S.A. - sale of crack cocaine; Freddie Joe King, 49, one count of V.G.C.S.A. – sale of crack cocaine and transaction of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of parks; Cierra Irene Cunningham, 21, on one count V.G.C.S.A. – sale of crack cocaine and transaction of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of parks; Donna Latrease Wilkerson, 33, for one count V.G.C.S.A. – sale of crack cocaine and probation warrant; Seddrick Lavon Wilkerson, 34, on two counts V.G.C.S.A. – sale of crack cocaine and transaction of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of parks; Kenneth Edwards, 37, on one count V.G.C.S.A. - sale of crack cocaine; and Eddie Eric Dent, 35, on two counts V.G.C.S.A. – sale of crack cocaine and one count V.G.C.S.A. – sale of hydrocodone. All have a Baxley address and all are currently in custody in the Appling County Detention Center where they are awaiting further judicial proceedings.
Chief Godfrey would like to thank the citizens of Baxley and Appling County for their continued support of local law enforcement that was shown during the course of this operation and to urge them to contact one of the above departments if they have information about a crime.
