Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Jan. 5, a complainant came into the sheriff’s office to report a theft. Taken from the complainant’s farm were forty rolls of barbed wire and a set of bus hog forks, black in color. Investigation continues.
Jan. 6, answered a call to Tanglewood Drive in reference to an assault. A complainant stated her ex-husband’s girlfriend assaulted her.
Jan. 7, answered a call to Kennedy Road in reference to a civil matter. The subjects were having a dispute over the ownership of a dirt bike. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other until they go to court.
Jan. 8, answered a call to First Street in reference to an assault. A complainant stated a subject asked her for money and when she told the subject she did not have any, he slapped her.
Jan. 9, Answered a call to Rosewood Lane in reference to a harassment incident. A complainant stated a subject posted a page on Facebook about her. The subject was interviewed by the officer and the subject took the posted page off of Facebook.
Jan. 9, answered a call to Wisteria Lane in reference to injury to an infant. The Appling EMS responded to an infant with a substance on his face. It was determined that the infant had ingested fingernail polish. The infant was taken to the Appling Emergency Room and released. The Poison Control Center was notified and DFAC’s CPS workers were notified.
Jan. 9, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to an attempted break in. The complainant stated he heard a noise at his back door, and saw a male subject trying to pry open the back door. The subject saw the complainant and fled on foot leaving his bicycle.
Jan. 10, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a financial identity fraud. The complainant stated unknown subject had gotten his credit card information and bought an item, valued at $1,375.00. Investigation continues.
Jan. 10, answered a call to Avery Lane in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had gone into her residence and stolen $900.00 in currency, there was no sign of forced entry. Investigation continues.
Jan. 11, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his log trucks was $80.00 worth of diesel fuel. Investigation continues.
Jan. 11, the officers answered a 911 call to East Martin Street – Surrency. Upon officers arrival a male subject was found with a gunshot wound to the head that appeared to be self-inflicted. Coroner George O’Quinn was contacted, and pronounced Mark Webster, 40, DOA, the body was transferred to the crime lab for an autopsy.
Jan. 12, answered a call to the Appling Emergency Room in reference to a dog bite. Juvenile was bitten by neighbors dog trying to break up a fight between two dogs.
Jan. 13, answered a call to Cleve White Road in reference to a prowler. The officer made contact with a subject in the area driving a pickup with various items in the back. Subject stated the items were given to him. After an investigation Joshua Ira Willams, 19, was arrested and charged with theft.
