Appling Community Theatre Production of HARVEY this weekend

The story is about Elwood P. Dowd, a good natured, mild-mannered eccentric who is known in all of the cafeterias and saloons in his small town. Elwood is polite and cheerful and always friendly toward any strangers he might encounter, and he has just one problematic character trait: his best friend is an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit, named Harvey. Wherever he goes, he brings an extra hat and coat for Harvey, and he buys theater tickets and railroad tickets in twos so that they can go everywhere together. His sister and her daughter try to have Elwood committed to the local sanitarium, where the behavior of the prominent psychologist and his staff raise the age old question of who is more dangerous to society: the easy-going dreamer with a vivid imagination or the people who want him to conform to the accepted version of reality. Appling Community Theatre’s production of “HARVEY” by Mary Chase will be Directed by Don Sears. Don has been working hard with the wonderful volunteers, cast and crew to get everything perfect for this weekend. The Cast Members are: Amy Barnes, Dusty Gres, Don Sears, Angela Knott, Andrea Herrington, Joseph Switzer, Buddy Taylor, John Crane, JoAnne Switzer, Paul Bridges, and Jimmy Johnson.

Come out and support your local community theatre and friends during this weekend’s performances of “HARVEY” by Mary Chase. Performances will be held on Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 6 at 2:00p.m. in the Appling County Fine Arts Center. Tickets are available at the Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce and from many of the cast members. Advance tickets for Adults will be $10 and Students $5 until Friday, March 4 at 5:00 p.m. Regular ticket prices will apply at the door: Adults $15 and Students $5.
