Marjorie Carter, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 in the Pavilion. Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 25, 1928 in Appling County to the late Tollie Cason and the late Mamie Hutcheson Cason. She was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Carter and a daughter, Linda Ruth Carter.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Weldon Harrelson and Patricia and Randall Reeves, all of Baxley and Connie and Robert Sargent of Spartanburg, S.C. and Lynnette and Joel Swager of Inman, S.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Tollie and Wendy Carter of Keystone Heights, Florida; seventeen grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Daniels and Pastors Agnes and Randy Sellers officiating. Interment followed in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were grandsons: Justin Davis, Shaun Overstreet, Ryan Overstreet, Tollie Gosnell, Robert Lee Carter II and Mark Carter.
Honorary pallbearers were Naomi Sunday-School Class of Ten Mile Baptist Church.
Musical selections were rendered by Redeeming Grace and Robert Lee Carter II.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
