On Tuesday, September 29, a ribbon cutting and grand opening event was held for one of Baxley’s newest retail stores, The Backroad Boutique. Visitors received gift bags with samples of products as well as door prize drawings. The new store is owned and operated by mother and daughter team Melissa Arnold and Lyndsey Skinner. The store features furniture, candles, home décor and much more. Melissa and Lyndsey are shown above with family, friends, Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce members and other community leaders during the event. The Backroad Boutique is located on 73 Southwest Park Avenue (behind Burger King).

Sheriff Benny Deloach reports the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department over the past few days.

On September 24, while making traffic stop at Bay Street, the arrest of Johnny Mack Bryant, 48, of Baxley was made. Bryant was charged with disorderly conduct. [Full Story »] 

The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department over the past several days.

On Sept. 2 at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers answered a call to Woody Folsom Chevrolet in reference to a theft. On arrival a complainant told officers that they had discovered they were missing a pickup from their inventory. The pickup is described as a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, white in color, with a serial number of 1GNFC13J77J136732. The pickup has been entered in the GCIC computer system as stolen. [Full Story »]
