Martin Hobart Barfield
Martin Hobart Barfield, 74, of Baxley, died Monday, August 24, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. Barfield was born August 9, 1941 in Greenville, Florida to the late John L. Hobart Barfield and the late Jewel Iona Martin Barfield. He has been a resident of Appling County since 1956 and was a member of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church. Martin was an outstanding gardener and was retired from Rayonier after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice McAdams.

Warren Allen Lewis
The earthly journey of Warren Allen Lewis began July 27, 1944 in Fitzgerald and came to a quiet closure on Monday, August 25, 2015 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. He was joined in holy matrimony to Seveta Williams Lewis on Sept. 11, 1998. Warren received his education in the public schools of Appling County. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 for two years. Warren was baptized and was member of Rachel Missionary Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon on Dec. 28, 2014. Warren worked as a logger with his brother, William Lewis, Sr., a transport driver for Pineland Mental Health and in 1999 he retired from ITT Rayonier in Baxley. His favorite pastimes were working in his garden and going to the Appling County Concerted Services Senior Center.

Curtis David Rentz
Curtis David Rentz, 74, of Baxley, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 in Brunswick. Rentz was born November 2, 1940 in Appling County to the late Rev. Cornelius David Rentz and the late Gladys Holland Rentz. After graduating from Appling County High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington. While in the service he learned the plumbing trade, which would be his occupation for the rest of his life. He also met his future bride at the base chapel.

Billy Gene Rogers
When Billy Gene Rogers entered into this life he came in with a round trip ticket on Flight 1955, he sat in Seat 8 and arrived on time at Gate 11. On Aug. 11, 1955 he was born to the parentage of the late Willard Rogers, Jr. and the late Helen William Rogers Cash in Surrency. He lived most of his life in Baxley. He also spent time with his father in Sarasota, FL. He attended school at the Appling County Training School. He rededicated his life to Christ at the New Jersey Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Carswell of Dublin.
