Board of Tourism seeks nominations for inductees to the 2013 Athletic Hall of Fame
Once again the Baxley-Appling County Board of Tourism is seeking nominations for an inductee to the 2013 Athletic Hall of Fame. The individual must be a present or previous resident of Appling County who has greatly influenced athletics on a local, state, regional or national level. He or she may be an accomplished athlete. The inductee must be retired for a period of two years from his/her active sport.

Lady Pirates play to 3-4 record
The Appling County Lady Pirates (3-4 overall, 1-1 Region 1-AAA) hosted the Pierce County Bears on December 4 with the Lady Pirates winning their first Region 1-AAA game 47-37. Leading the Lady Pirates were Briyanna Brantley 18 points and Alexus Boles 14 points.

The Appling County Pirates (4-3 overall, 2-0 Region 1-AAA) hosted the Pierce County Bears on December 4 winning their Region 1-AAA opener 43-34. Leading Scorers were Ronald Handsome nine points, Anthony Rayner eight points, Jordan Vann six points, Tobias Hagins six points and Heisman Johnson five points.

On Monday, Dec. 17 at 7:00 p.m. an Organizational Basketball meeting for Adult Basketball will be held at the Baxley City Gym located at 252 West Parker Street, Baxley.
Appling County All-Stars win Championship

The Mite (7-8) All-Stars won the GRPA Class C District Championship in Richmond Hill Tuesday, Dec. 4. These talented young men finished their season 6-0, with a strong and powerful offense mainly running out of the wishbone formation, these young men scored 136 points in six games, and with an equally powerful defense only allowing 20 points to be scored in six games. ACA Eagle basketball begins
The Appling Christian Academy Eagle (4-0 overall) basketball team started the season defeating Bible Baptist, non-varsity opponent, 67-5 on November 15. Leading scorers for the Eagles were Bryce Livingston 13 points, Dylan Colson 11 points, Luke White 10 points, Hunter Kicklighter nine points, Rex Cox eight points, Jordan Bland six points, Austin Carter six points and Wyatt Nail four points. Leading the team in assists was Cox with six with B. Livingston leading the team in rebounds with nine.

The Appling County Lady Eagles (3-0 overall) basketball team started the season against Bible Baptist, non-varsity opponent, winning 50-3. Leading scorers for the Lady Eagles were Deanna Johnson 10 points, Lauren Beasley six points, Ambrasis Mims six points, Bethany Rivers six points, Victoria Cox four points, Sarah Dhaliwal four points, Alyssa Livingston four points, Samantha Mims four points, Sarah Wade four points and Sarah Brock two points. Leading the team with four assists were Beasley, Cox and Livingston. Leading rebounder was Johnson with eight.
