City Council approves bids for two new police vehicles

The Baxley City Council approved bids to purchase two new vehicles for the Baxley Police Department at the regular council meeting last Tuesday, Oct. 23. After reviewing bids, the council approved the recommended bids for two 2013 Ford Interceptors from Woody Folsom Ford of Baxley, for the price of $21,900.00 each, for a total of $43,800.00, which includes a 5-year or 100,000 mile warranty. Burglar hits local community hard

According to Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach on Sunday night, October 14, a burglar struck several houses near the Zion Baptist Church community. The thief burglarized three different locations. Taken in the burglaries were four wheelers, a shotgun, chain saws, drills, a utility trailer, a television, tools and a microwave. Appling County Sheriff Investigators with the assistance of Tattnall County Investigators and Glennville Police Officers solved the cases and the stolen property has been returned to the owners. Hee Haw show scheduled for two nights

Yep! It’s that time of year again. The Appling County High School Choral Department is sponsoring its annual Hee Haw show with two nights of music, comedy, and all the “corny” jokes you can handle! Show dates are Friday, November 2, and Saturday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m. Both shows will feature performances by Wayne Carter, Roy McClung, and the Brantleys. The Apostles will perform on Friday night and HOPE will perform on Saturday night. The Gathering Place Praise Band will be featured both nights along with Minnie Pearl and the rest of the HEEHAW gang. [Full Story »]

Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

Oct. 13, answered a call to Woodlawn Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Two subjects had an altercation, which led to the arrest of Jeminey Lee Chavis, 30, of Baxley. Chavis was charged with disorderly conduct.

Oct. 13, answered a call to Surrency in reference a child custody dispute. A complainant stated she picked up her son from his visitation with his father and a dispute began with the father. The complainant got her son and left the residence without further incident. [Full Story »]
