Recreation Department gives June and July updates
In June the All-Star leagues went to the district tournaments. Boys and Girls Flea league held their District tournaments June 18 and 19 in Brantley County. Mite Boys, Midget Boys and Jr. Boys went to Jeff Davis County June 22 through June 26. Midget Boys got second place and advanced to State. Junior Boys were the District Champs and advanced to State. Appling County held the District tournament for the Mite Girls, Midget Girls and Junior Girls June 22 through June 26. Midget Girls were the District Champs and advanced to State.

Irvin “Buddy” Higginbotham, Sr.
Irvin “Buddy” Higginbotham, Sr., 73, died Saturday, July 21, 2012. Higginbotham was born Feb. 7, 1939 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Frederick Waas Higginbotham and the late Louise Batten Higginbotham. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Morocco Temple Shrine, Albert J. Russell Blue Lodge and Woodmen of the World Life Insurance. Buddy was recognized for Who’s Who International of Professionals.

Ryan signs to wrestle with Truett-McConnell
Emanuel Ryan IV signed to wrestle with the Truett-McConnell College (TMC) Bears in Cleveland. Ryan is the son of Valarie Williams Ryan and the late Emanuel Ryan III and lives in the Ten Mile area of Baxley. He is the grandson of the late Emanuel (Manning) and Mattie B. Williams.

All objections to the granting of such powers must be in writing, setting forth the grounds of any such objections, and must be filed with the Probate Court on or before August 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. All pleadings/objections must be signed before a notary public or before a Probate Court clerk, and filing fees must be tendered with your pleadings/objections, unless you qualify to file as an indigent party. If no objections are filed, the petition for grant of powers may be granted without a hearing.
