Libraries to increase overdue fees

Borrowers who fail to return public library books in a timely manner can soon expect to pay a few pennies more for their tardiness. At its annual meeting in May, the PINES Executive Committee voted to increase the overdue fee for books from 10 cents per day to 20 cents per day, effective July 1, 2012. A statewide consortium of 285 public libraries and affiliated service outlets in 143 Georgia counties, the Public Information Network for Electronics Services - PINES for short – offers citizens a shared catalog of approximately 10.4 million items, with a single library card that is welcomed in all member libraries. Lady Eagles win NACA Championship

On May 9 thru 11, the Appling Christian Academy Softball team competed in the NACA (National Association of Christian Athletes) softball tournament, which was held in Dayton, TN. Participating in the tournament were eight teams from Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Michigan, Tennessee and Texas. On day one of the tournament the Lady Eagles faced Covenant Christian Academy from Louisiana and the Knoxville Lady Ambassadors from Knoxville, TN. [Full Story »]

Malcolm and Winifred Sellers celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married June 4, 1942. Malcom is 90 and Winifred is 85. They have three children, Jimmy Sellers and Joyce, Danny Sellers and Becky and Jan Craven and Mickey. They have seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. [Full Story »]
