Glynn Rodney Bass, 73, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Bass was born Dec. 21, 1938 in Duval County to the late Leonard Leroy Bass and the late Daisy Edna Ryals Bass. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Bass was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, L. H. and Vernon Bass.

John L. Bollinger
John L. Bollinger, 66, of Jesup, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his residence. The Howard County, Md. native had lived in Baxley for 25 years, Wayne County the past 6 years and was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a truck driver with Trucks, Inc. and a police officer for Montgomery County, Md. He enjoyed working in his yard, going to antique car shows, and the outdoors. His mother, Margaret C. Bollinger and a stepdaughter, Katrina Wood preceded him in death.

Rickey Jackson
Rickey Jackson was born Oct. 12, 1961 and departed this life on Jan. 8, 2012. He attended Jeff Davis County Public Schools. Rickey was employed with Sapp Ford for many years. He was the eleventh child of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. B. (Flora) Jackson. Rickey was always laughing and joking and most of all a spiritual advisor. A devoted, caring and loving husband for 30 years and father.

Louise Jarrell, 82, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Appling Healthcare System. She was born May 21, 1929 in Thomasville and had resided in Baxley since 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ambers Jarrell. Louise was the daughter of the late Willie B. Fulgham and the late Pink Fulgham.

Edwin “Nig” Lamb
Edwin “Nig” Lamb, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. Lamb was born Sept. 22, 1929 in Appling County to the late Alonzo Lamb and the late Leona Davis Lamb. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 53 years. Lamb was a former member of the Appling County Hospital Authority.

John Wesley Stone, 60, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. John Wesley was born Oct. 19, 1950 in Appling County to the late George Stone and the late Jessie Mae Hardwick Stone. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Stone was retired from Lewis Manufacturing.

Wanell Baxley, 89, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Pavilion. Wanell was born in Appling County Jan. 29, 1922 and had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Baxley. Mrs. Baxley was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Baxley. Wanell was the daughter of the late Troy Britt and the late Ethel Simmons Britt.

Donald W. Williams
Donald W. “Booger” Williams, 69, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the Carl Vinson Veterans Medical Center in Dublin. Donald was born Aug. 10, 1942 in Orangeburg, S.C. and had lived in Appling County since 1999. He was retired from the B. F. Shaw Company where he had worked for 20 years as a pipe fitter and he was a member of the Local Pipe Fitters Union 150. Williams was a member of the United States Air Force for 11 years serving as an airplane mechanic. He was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church. Donald was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Allison Nicole Orvin and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Catlyn Orvin. He was the son of the late Bryant and Lurline Chavis Williams.

Gerald “Dennis” Burke, 73, of Jesup, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness. The Appling County native had lived in Wayne County for the past 50 years and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired supervisor with the Department of Transportation, owner of Burke’s Used Cars for many years, loved to buy and trade anything, and loved traveling to the mountains.

Elither Pipkin Carter, 90, of Odum, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her residence after an extended illness. The Appling County native had lived in Wayne County the past 20 years, attended Jesup First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class, was a retired master seamstress, a homemaker, and enjoyed fishing, arts, and crafts. Marjorie Carter, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 in the Pavilion. Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 25, 1928 in Appling County to the late Tollie Cason and the late Mamie Hutcheson Cason. Robert Clark, 75, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Clark was born April 1, 1936 in Appling County and had resided here all of his life. He was retired and before his retirement he was a heavy equipment operator for 44 years and was employed with Appling County Road Department. Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robbie Dewayne Clark, a grandson, Lennie Smith III, and three brothers, Frank, Jr., John B. and Edgar L. Clark. He was the son of the late Frank Clark and the late Maybell Williamson Clark.
