Elaine Edwards Adams, 70, of Baxley, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Adams was born June 2, 1941 in Appling County to the late Robert Lee Edwards and the late Olive Hollis Edwards. She was a member of Meltons Chapel United Methodist Church. Tony Haynes, 73, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Candler Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Haynes was a native of Appling County and had lived in Wayne County for the past 28 years. He retired from Rayonier with 28 years of service and was the founder and former owner of OCTS, Inc. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of Zion Baptist Church and had attended Salem Primitive Baptist Church for many years. He and his best friend Freeman Bacon were avid fishermen. Louise Dixon Deal, 83, of Bristol, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. The Appling County, native was a member of Ritch Baptist Church and worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse in hospitals and home health companies. Dr. Warren Dale Ruhnau, 80, of Surrency, died Friday, October 28, 2011. Dr. Ruhnau was born Dec. 21, 1930 in Ontario, California to the late Jeffrey Boyles Ruhnau and the late Helena Elizabeth Ruhnau. He was a member of Jacksonville Dental Society, Delta Signa Dental Fraternity and a lifetime member of American Dental Association and Florida Dental Association. Dr. Ruhnau was a GP Dentist for 37 years in Jacksonville, FL and was a graduate of Emery Dental School in 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant. Oscar Benjamin Sikes, 51, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at Appling Healthcare System. Mr. Sikes was born Feb. 25, 1960 in Appling County and had lived here most of his life. He was a carpenter and a member of the Local Union 256. Sikes was a member of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church and a 1979 graduate of Appling County Comprehensive High School. [Full Story »] 

Kenneth Carroll “Rooster” Spell, Jr., 53, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at his residence. Mr. spell was born April 18, 1958 in Appling County. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Spell, Sr. and two brothers, Dennis and Jimmy Spell. [Full Story »]
