A standing room only crowd witnessed a game for the ages Friday night as the Appling County Pirates traveled to Barnesville and defeated the Region 4AA Champion Lamar County Trojans 35-33 in quadruple overtime in Round Three of the state high school football playoffs. As expected, it was a tough, hard-fought contest between two evenly matched teams. Lamar County came into the game with a record of 12-0, averaging nearly 32 points per game in the playoffs. Appling County came into the game as a slight underdog despite an impressive win the week before against unbeaten and number five ranked North Oconee High School. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates hosted the Thomasville Bulldogs (6-5, 4-2) in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs on Friday, November 11 at Jimmy Swain Stadium. The Pirates were able to advance with a 28-18 victory and will travel to Bogart, outside of Athens, to face Region 8AA Champion North Oconee Titans (11-0, 6-0) with the game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. [Full Story »] 

The Appling Christian Academy Eagles enjoyed a day at Six Flags after winning their second GCAA AA State Championship on Oct. 28. [Full Story »] 

The Appling Christian Academy Volleyball team has captured its first State Championship.  In a two-day tournament held in Hampton, the Lady Eagles played very hard against tough teams from the Atlanta area. 

Appling Christian Academy was definately the “rookie” team at the state tournament.  Many of the Atlanta area schools have had successful volleyball programs for a number of years.  Appling Christian is only in its third year of its volleyball program.  [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates defeated the Vidalia Indians 19-0 on Friday, October 28. With the win the Pirates are now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 2AA. The victory assures the Pirates a home playoff game and a chance at another perfect 10-0 season. The last perfect season was in 1999. The Pirates will travel to Pierce County for the final regular season game on Friday, November 4 to face the Bears who are 7-2, 6-0 with the winner becoming the region champion.
