Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 14, answered a call to Ellis Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A father and a son had a dispute, which led to an altercation. The son had left the residence before the officers arrived. [Full Story »]

Most people come to a Rodeo to root for the cowboys and cowgirls to do well in their event. But there are some people just contrary enough to want the bull or bronco to buck their rider off and send him home empty-handed. At the Baxley Lions Club Rodeo on Friday and Saturday, October 28-29, at the Tri-County Fairgrounds, the bulls will try to make even those people happy. [Full Story »]

According to Police Chief James Godfrey on Oct. 20 officers from the Baxley Police Department and the Appling County Sheriff’s Office assisted officers from the Altamaha Drug Task Force and the GA Bureau of Investigation in executing a search warrant at 39 Waldon Street in Baxley. [Full Story »]

Appling School System receives “Accredited with Quality” from Georgia Accrediting Commission

Appling County School System received notification that all schools in the district had been “Accredited with Quality” from the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC). Altamaha Elementary, Appling Elementary, Appling Primary, Fourth District, Appling Middle School and Appling High School were all recognized by the Board of Education and Superintendent Scarlett Copeland on October 17, for this outstanding honor. Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program announced

Diane Rogers, Community Services Dept. Head, announces that Concerted Services, Inc., Appling County’s local Community Action Agency, located at 57 Harvey Street will operate the Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program funded by the Department of Human Resources. Program income guidelines have been set at 60 percent of the state’s median income. [Full Story »]
