The Appling County Pirates had two region contests this week against the top two teams in region 2AA. On Tuesday, the Pirates traveled to Tattnall County High School to play the Battle Creek Warriors. The Pirates came out in the first quarter on fire as they opened the game with a 10 – 2 run. The Warriors would make a run of their own late in the first to come within one point of the Pirates. [Full Story »] 

The Appling County Pirates basketball team hosted the Brantley County Herons on Friday, January 14. The Pirates played hard but could not hold onto a halftime lead losing a close game 47-56.

The Pirates hosted the Long County Blue Tide on Saturday, January 15 and were able to pick up big region win by a score of 61-58. With the victory the Pirates improve to 6-9 overall on the season and 2-7 in region 2AA play.

The Appling County Lady Pirates hosted the Brantley County Lady Herons on Friday, January 14 and were able to hold off a late rally to pick up the Region 2AA victory.

The Lady Pirates hosted the Long County Lady Blue Tide on Saturday, January 15 and were able to win by a score of 44-21. Khaila Burkett led the Lady Pirates with 11 points with Ashley Jones adding ten points.

NAPA Auto Parts would like to announce the NAPA/Larry Csonka “Blue Collar Player of The Year” Award recipients for 2010. High school varsity football players from all over Georgia were nominated for the award, but only 12 were named “Blue Collar Player of The Year.”
