W. L. “Dub” Beecher, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Beecher was born July 24, 1930 in Appling County to the late Alfred Algerine Beecher and the late Dinah Carter Beecher. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Dub was a retired wood producer. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kessler, Hubert and Cappy Beecher and a step-mother, Laura Mae Beecher.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Beecher of Baxley; two daughters, Faye Harris of Savannah and Connie (Greg) Thomas of Baxley; one son, Darren Beecher of Macon; two sisters and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Thompson and Betty Ruth Sauls, all of Palatka, FL; four grandchildren, Traci and Scott Brady, Brent and Amber Harris, Erin Vallier and Lee Vallier; six great-grandchildren, Mack Brady, Owen Brady, Harris Brady, Ruby Harris, Willie Harris and Poppy Harris; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Midway Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Williamson, Marty Anderson and Michael Beecher officiating. Interment followed in church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Harris, Bill Smith, Scott Brady, J. L. Ricketson, Steve Lane and Greg Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter, David Williams and Cecile Griffin.
