Thomas R. “T.R.” Britt, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 in the Hazlehurst Court Care Rehab Center. Mr. Britt was born Aug. 7, 1926 in Appling County to the late Troy Britt and the late Ethel Simmons Britt. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. T. R. was retired from the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. as an electrician. He taught music several years at Hi Lo Music.
Survivors include a long time friend, Carolyn Werner of Baxley; four sisters, Wanelle Baxley, Juanita Hopkins, Alice Griffin, all of Baxley and Betty Blocker of McDonough.
Funeral services for T. R. Britt were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Andy Williams and Keith Alderman officiating. Interment followed in Appling Memorial Gardens with Military honors.
Active pallbearers were Bennie Britt, Phillip Lott, Larry Britt, Jimmy Griffin, Scott A. Britt and Jason Lott.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and David Williams.
Arrangements were under the directions of Swain Funeral Home.
