Allen Middleton Tuten, 85, of Macon, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. Mr. Tuten was born July 20, 1926 in Appling County to the late John Leslie Tuten and the late Minnie Rice Middleton Tuten. He was a charter member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Mr. Tuten was a member of the Exchange Club of Macon, former member of Grace Sunday-School Class, Forest Hills Men’s Chorus and was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tuten retired as Lieutenant Commander from the U.S. Navy Reserves with 21 years of service. He was retired from Anderson Chemical Company where he served many years as comptroller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Barwick Tuten, a son, Jeffrey Allen Tuten, brother, John Edward Tuten and sister, Lora Elizabeth Tuten Bowers.
Survivors include his daughter, Jane Tuten of Macon; one grandson, Daniel Allen Tuten; one great-grandson, Taylor Chase Tuten and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services were held for Allen Middleton Tuten Saturday, Dec. 10 at 4:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, 6324 Peake Road, Macon. Visitation was held one hour prior to the memorial service at Hart’s Mortuary.
Grave side services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 at Omega Cemetery in Baxley with the Revs. Gary Walker and Jeff Johnson officiating. Eulogy was given by Leonard Grace.
