Roy C. Yawn, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. Roy was born May 4, 1941 in Appling County to the late George Clinton Yawn and the late Georgia Mae Carter Yawn. He was a member of Ferry Road Baptist Church. Mr. Yawn was retired from Baxley Veneer & Cleat. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Devin Helms.
Survivors include his wife, Latrelle Yawn of Baxley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Walsh of Alma and Mandi Yawn of Baxley; one son, Jason Yawn of Baxley; nine sisters, Eudine Varnadore of St. Petersburg, FL, Wynette (Les) Yates of Tallahassee, FL, Thelma Jean Herndon of Surrency, Janie Deen, Gwen (James Edward) Turner, all of Baxley, Linda Cook of Uvalda, Judy (James) Williams of Surrency, Donna (Clyde) Miles and Lisa Yawn, all of Baxley; two brothers, Royce (Francis) Yawn of Bristol and Randy (Janice) Yawn of Baxley; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Earnest Dyal and the Rev. Darron Jackson officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Corey Yawn, Skyler Miles, Brandon Williams, Nick Stone, C. E. Dyal and Shane Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and David Williams.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
