Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Nov. 2, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that person(s) unknown had taken approximately 60 scrap batteries from his place of business without his permission. Investigation revealed batteries were taken to a salvage business and sold. Warrants are forthcoming.
Nov. 3, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated taken from her residence was copper wiring, valued at $100.00. The complainant also stated her dogs had been poisoned.
Nov. 3, answered a call to Russell Road in reference to a damage to property incident. A complainant stated someone had disconnected her phone line, water heater and her breaker box had been tampered with. The complainant stated this possibly could have been done by a family member.
Nov. 4, answered a call to Bobby Vann Road in reference a suspicious vehicle. A female was found, questioned and transported to Appling Emergency Room. An investigation revealed that false statements were given. Susan Harris, age 41, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with false report of a crime.
Nov. 7, answered a call to Gail Street in reference to a financial fraud incident. A complainant stated that Alltel sent a draft through on her bank account for a cell phone that had been cancelled months ago. Investigation continues.
Nov. 8, answered a call to Highway 341 on Appling/Wayne county line in reference to a theft. DOT workers saw two subjects taking metal grates off water drains. Five were found to be missing and valued at $500.00 each. Investigation revealed that the metal had been taken to a scrap metal yard in Wayne County. Terry Lynn Davis, age 31, of Odum, was arrested and charged with theft and also Henry Ingram, age 38, of Odum, was arrested and charged with theft and a probation violation.
Nov. 8, answered a call to Noah Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated his irrigation pump was stolen. The pump was found at a local pawnshop and was pawned by a family member.
Nov. 9, a routine traffic stop on Highway 1 South resulted in the arrest of Howard Jermaine Jonas, age 22, of Starke, Fl. Jonas was charged with possession of marijuana and obstruction of officer.
Nov. 9, answered a call to Patterson Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a subject had stolen her chain link fence. The subject stated he had got permission to get the fence.
Nov. 9, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft on Mae Lane. Complainant stated when renters left his rental mobile home they had taken the central air condition unit, refrigerator, stove and kitchen cabinets.
Nov. 10, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a financial fraud incident. The complainant stated an unknown person had stole her debit card number and charged $589.03 to her bank account. Investigation continues.
Nov. 12, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a scam mail incident. Complainant received a check in the amount of $3,390.00 from a Lottery Club. Complainant was asked to remit $3,000.00 to the Club to receive remainder of winnings. Complainant was advised to shred the check.
Nov. 12, answered a call to Sumner Road of Surrency in reference threatening text message. The complainant stated a subject had sent a threatening text message threatening to harm her child.
Nov. 13, answered a call to Dupe Herndon Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated while out of town his trailer had been broken into. Taken were a loveseat and a washing machine. Investigation continues.
Nov. 13, answered a call to Pickett Road in reference to a runaway juvenile. A complainant stated her fifteen-year-old son left home. The son was found at another residence. The Juvenile Justice Office was notified and the son was later released to his mother.
Nov. 15, answered a call to Dasher Road/Bristol in reference to a theft. A complainant stated renters had moved about eleven months ago and she had found that the central heat & air unit, power pole with meter and breaker box were missing from the rental property.
Nov. 17, answered a call to John Lewis Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated her boyfriend hit her in the face. No marks were noted on the complainant. The boyfriend left the residence.
Nov. 17, answered a call to Tupelo Circle in reference to a theft. A complainant stated she had let a family member live in one of her residence and when they had moved they took several appliances, valued at $550.00. Warrants are being secured.
Nov. 17, a complainant came to the sheriffs office to report a credit card fraud in City of Graham. Several charges were found to have been made against the card without approval. Investigation continues.
Nov. 17, Answered a call to George Craven Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A boyfriend and a girlfriend had a verbal dispute. The complainant also stated the Christmas tree was knocked over and hit her in the head, Appling EMS was dispatched and the complainant refused treatment.
