Nominations sought for 2012 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee
Once again the Baxley-Appling County Board of Tourism is seeking nominations for an inductee to the 2012 Athletic Hall of Fame. The individual must be a present or previous resident of Appling County who has greatly influenced athletics on a local, state, regional or national level. He or she may be an accomplished athlete. The inductee must be retired for a period of two years from his/her active sport. He or she may be a participant in a life-long sport, such as bowling or golf. The inductee may be living or deceased.
Nomination letters of prospective athletes should have as much documentation as possible about the Athlete. All nomination letters are required to have contact information for the person nominating the prospective athlete and if possible contact information for the nominee. Copies of awards, articles and documented statistics are acceptable. All documentation will be compiled in a scrapbook for the Athletic Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is housed at the Appling County Recreation Department. The inductee will be announced at the Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
