Franklin “Wardell” Hutcheson, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at his residence. Wardell was born May 10, 1939 in Appling County to the late Anthony Hutcheson, Sr. and the late Helen Marie Griffin Hutcheson. He was a retired carpenter with Amoco Fabrics at Hazlehurst Mills. Mr. Hutcheson was preceded in death by three sisters, Mattie Herrington, Elevenia Bratcher and Mary Ellen Taylor; two brothers, Herman and Anthony Hutcheson, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Hutcheson of Baxley; one niece, Robbie Davis of Baxley; two sons and daughter-in-law, Franklin Wardell Hutcheson of Baxley and Samuel Mills and Lisa Eady Hutcheson of Atlanta; two brothers, Eugene Hutcheson of Augusta and Randall Carter of Auburndale, FL; three grandchildren, Micheal Anthony Hutcheson, Maci Marie Hutcheson, Steven Mills Hutcheson; one great-grandchild, Majayla “Sweet Pea” Delapaz; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Carter and Justin McLellan officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jimbo Crapps, Kelly Teston, Keith Davis, Anthony Hand, Donald Herrington and Scotty Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers were Edward Pearce, Cecil Page, Charles Griffin, Clifton Griffin, Dr. Charles Bagley and staff and Tricia Taylor and Community Hospice of Vidalia staff.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
