In the only contested race for Baxley City Council, incumbent Dr. Esco Hall, Jr. defeated Carlos L. Rooks, Sr. for the District 2 seat. Hall garnered 92 votes and Rooks got 58 votes. District 5 incumbent Betty Livingston ran unopposed and District 1 newcomer Kenneth J. Waithe also ran unopposed for the position left vacant after Councilman Eugene Walker, Jr. resigned earlier this year due to health issues.
In Graham, the voters reelected Lonnie Crosby as the mayor as he defeated challengers Ralph Crosby and Don Rentz. Of the 117 votes cast, Lonnie Crosby received 52 votes, Ralph Crosby received 30 and Rentz received 35. There will be no runoff in this election as the City of Graham’s charter states the high vote recipient is the winner outright.
For City of Graham council, five ran for two council positions. Those running included Ronald R. Burch (31 votes), Jesse Conaway (58 votes), Willie Conaway (incumbent – 35 votes), John Fogarty (incumbent – 43 votes) and Jamey Truett (43 votes). Jesse Conaway will fill one of the council positions and there will be a runoff between Fogarty and Truett on Tuesday, December 6 to decide the final council position.
