With the win the Pirates improve to 10-1 overall and are the lone representative remaining from Region 2AA after loses by Pierce County (8-3), 22-43 to Cook (7-4), Tatnall County (6-5), 10-28 to Brooks County (9-2) and McInstosh County Academy (4-7), 14-41 to Fitzgerald (10-1).
Game recap
The Pirates received the opening kickoff and would start at their own 40-yard line. The Pirates ended the drive on a nine-yard touchdown run by Lashune Moore. The extra point was added by Israel Jaramillo to make the score 7-0 with 10:40 left in the first quarter.
The Pirates next score came on a drive that started at their own 43 and end on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Moore to Byron Buxton, on a Pirate fourth down and 17 yards to go from the Bulldog 35, to make the score 14-0 with 8:50 left in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs answered with a good drive of their own ending on a two-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-7 with 4:28 left in the second quarter.
The Pirates started their next drive at their own 36 and drove the ball down the field ending with a two-yard touchdown run by CJ Nails to make the score 21-7 with 1:00 to go in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs added a short field goal at the end of the quarter to make the score 21-10.
The Pirates would get their next score starting at the Bulldog 30 after an interception by Buxton.
The Pirates ended the drive on a three-yard touchdown run by Donnell McMillan to make the score 28-10 with 8:31 left in the fourth quarter.
The final score of the contest came on a two-yard touchdown by the Bulldogs. The two-point conversion was successful making the score 28-18.
Brian Cauley of the Pirates recovered the onside kick attempt by the Bulldogs and the Pirates would take a knee to preserve the 28-18 victory.
