Ms. Griffin and Mr. Battles to wed at Mt. Vernon Baptist
Russell and Sylvia Griffin would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Valarie Griffin, to Scott Battles. Scott is the son of Dan and Brenda Battles of St. Simons and Sandy Battles of Rogersville, Missouri.
Valarie’s maternal grandparents are Bruce and Verma Bowen and the late Lizzie Bowen. Her paternal grandparents are Peggy and the late J. W. Griffin, all of Baxley.
Scott’s maternal grandparents are the late Earnest and Pearl Bishop of Elsinore, Missouri. His paternal grandparents are Clara and the late Guy Julian of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
The ceremony will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Baxley. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. A reception will follow in the church multi-purpose building. No local invitations will be sent, but all friends and family are invited to attend.
