Davis to perform in Jazz Band Concert at Young Harris College
Young Harris College sophomore music major Caitlin Davis, trumpet, of Baxley, will perform at the Young Harris College Jazz Band concert on Monday, Nov. 14. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building on the Young Harris College campus. Davis is a graduate of Appling County High School.
The Young Harris College Jazz Band will perform a variety of music covering all styles of the jazz genre. Directed by Adjunct Instructor of Music Mike Campbell, D.A., the ensemble guarantees an evening of entertaining instrumental music featuring an array of traditional American jazz standards and big band swing tunes that will feature several student solos.
The Jazz Band will perform Chuck Mangione’s “Feel So Good,” Billie Holiday’s “God Bless the Child,” ”Hoagy Carmichael’s “Georgia on My Mind,” Maynard Ferguson’s “Gospel John,” George Gershwin’s “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” and Buddy Rich’s arrangement of “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!”
The Brasstown Big Band will perform “Manteca” by Dizzy Gillespie, “Satin Doll” by Count Basie, “Sister Sadie” by Horace Silver and the ballad “Angel Eyes” by Matt Dennis. The Brasstown Big Band will also team up with the YHC Jazz Band to delight audiences with a performance of Glenn Miller’s famous big band hit “In the Mood.”
