Young Harris College sophomore English major Blake Ogden, tuba, and freshman music major Caitlin Davis, trumpet, both graduates of ACHS will perform at the Young Harris College Wind Ensemble concert Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7:00 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building on the Young Harris College campus.
The Wind Ensemble will be joined at the concert by the Young Harris College Community Band that is composed of YHC students, local high schools students and local music teachers and musicians. Both groups are directed by YHC Senior Instructor of Music and Director of Bands Mary Land and will be conducted by internationally acclaimed conductor Robert Sheldon.
The Wind Ensemble will present “Visions of Flight” and “In the Center Ring” by Robert Sheldon, “Down a Country Lane” by Aaron Copland and “March Grandioso” by Roland F. Seitz. The Young Harris College Community Band will present “Flight of the Piasa” and “One Thousand Cranes” by Robert Sheldon, “A Little Polka” by Pagannani and arranged by YHC Community Band member Bill Star, and “The Fairest of the Fair” by John Philip Sousa.
