Tony Haynes, 73, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Candler Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Haynes was a native of Appling County and had lived in Wayne County for the past 28 years. He retired from Rayonier with 28 years of service and was the founder and former owner of OCTS, Inc. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of Zion Baptist Church and had attended Salem Primitive Baptist Church for many years. He and his best friend Freeman Bacon were avid fishermen. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors are his wife, Linda Bennett Haynes of Jesup; two sons, Mark (Missy) Haynes of Nahunta and Brack (Joy) Haynes of Fairview, TN; a step daughter, Tami Rogers of Pooler; a step son, Jimmy Peebles of Jesup; two sisters, Penny (Sandy) Kelley of St. Petersburg, FL and Connie (Jimmy) Miles of Baxley; mother of his sons, Patricia Rentz Haynes of Baxley; three grandchildren, Cody Haynes, Matthew Haynes and Ramsey Haynes; step-grandchildren, Lindi Trowbridge, Ian Keifer, Jimmy Pebbles, Lance Peebles and Kassie Graham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Howard Jones Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Roland Waters and the Reverend Ronnie Rentz officiating.
Interment followed at the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Allen Miles, Mike Miles, Brian Kelley, Jimmy Peebles, Jr., Lance Pebbles and Joey Trowbridge.
