Lillian Lightsey Blanton, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Blanton was born May 3, 1927 in Appling County to the late Wildon Cornelius “W.C.” and Myrtice Herndon Rentz. She was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Blanton was a retired school teacher in Dade County, Florida.
Survivors include her husband, J. W. Blanton of Jesup; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cyndy Lightsey of Surrency; two sisters, Betty Gardner and Jean Ison; two brothers, C. W. Rentz and Henry Rentz; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Marty Anderson and Amos McMillan officiating. Interment followed in Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Keith Lewis, Benji Ogden, Gene Mann, Tally Ogden, Jeffery Bell and Jonathan Mann.
Musical selections were rendered by David Williams and James Carter.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
