Jesse Tom (Papa T) Dubberly, Jr., 80, of Richmond Hill, died October 11, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Tom served in the Korean War with the United States Air Force. Following the Air Force career, he came to Savannah and became the owner of TV Center for 59 years. He was a member of Richmond Hill United Methodist Church. He was also the president of the Southside Optimist Club, as a member, he sponsored and took two young Vietnamese pilots, Cuoang Dang and Thu Hoang who continues to work at TV Center with his wife, Gin.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dubberly; sons, Greg (Carol) Dubberly of Atlanta, Mickey Dubberly (Kathey) of Richmond Hill and Charles (Zelda) Dubberly of Richmond Hill; grandchildren, Katherine (Drew) Maxwell, Inman (Courtney) Dubberly, Jesse (Carrie) Dubberly, all of Atlanta, Tara (Brian) LeClaire of Charleston, SC, Travis (Rayna) Dubberly of Dublin, Tyler Dubberly of Richmond Hill, Olivia Dubberly of Atlanta, Austin Dubberly of Richmond Hill; great-grandchildren, Tyson and Taylor LeClaire, Jackson Maxwell and Rayley Dubberly; two sisters, Wyoline (Edsel) Lewis of Baxley and Alice Anderson of Bat Cave, NC; one brother, Jimmy (Latrelle) Dubberly of Baxley; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and special friends.
Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home in Richmond Hill.
Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 in Cox Chapel of Richmond Hill Funeral Home. A private burial was held Saturday, Oct. 15 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah.
Active pallbearers were grandchildren.
