E. C. “Short” Reeves, 87, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 in Appling Healthcare System. Mr. Reeves was born Feb. 22, 1924 in Appling County to the late John Thomas and Zella Bethune Reeves. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Reeves was the retired owner of E. C. Reeves Construction. He was a veteran of the United States Army Infantry having served in World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors include his wife, Inez T. Reeves of Baxley; one daughter, Linda Reeves of Panama City Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Keith Alderman, Jimmy Howard, Tommy Jordon and Rick Brown officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Reeves, Dr. Al Mercer, Joe Mercer, Randy Kimbrel, Jimmy Branch, Ray Tatum, Carson Clark, James Clark and Mike Redwine.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Donna Howard, Laura Ann Tatum and David Williams.
