The Appling County Pirates traveled to Long County to face the Blue Tide (0-8, 0-5) on Friday, October 21 and were able to get the Region 2AA win 38-8. The Pirates improve to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in region play. The Pirates will host the Vidalia Indians (5-3, 2-3) on Friday, October 28 for Senior Night with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone is also encouraged to wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness during the game against the Vidalia Indians.
Pirates defeat Blue Tide 38-8
Scoring recap
The Pirates received the opening kickoff and would start their drive at the 50. The Pirates would later score on a six-yard run by Jordan Vann. Israel Jaramillo would add the extra point to make the score 7-0.
The Pirates got their next score on a 33-yard fumble recovery by Steve Crayton caused by a sack by Heisman Johnson. Jaramillo would add the extra point to make the score 14-0.
The Pirates started their next scoring drive at their own 37. Later in the drive Lashune Moore would connect on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Byron Buxton making the score, with the extra point, 21-0.
The Pirates would score on their next possession after starting at their own 26 on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Moore to Devontae Wilkerson to make the score 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Pirates next score came on a 26-yard field goal by Jarmaillo to make the score 31-0.
The Pirates would get their final score in the third quarter on a nine-yard touchdown run by CJ Nails to make the score 38-0.
The Blue Tide would score their touchdown late in the game on a 10-yard run and would add the two-point conversion to make the final score 38-8.
