In reference to car burglaries that occurred on February 1. Philip Laquan Johnson, age 19, of Waycross, has been arrested and is currently in the Appling County Detention Center. Other warrants are forth coming on other subjects.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated missing from her residence was a Wii, games and a variety of jewelry. Items missing were valued at $6,300.00. Neighbors saw a subject leaving the residence. Willie Gene Bryant, age 32, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with burglary.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Norman Circle in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a subject took some of his scrap metal from his property.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Highway 341 West in reference to a two-vehicle accident. Injured were taken to Appling County Health Care by Appling EMS.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Sellers Road in reference to a burglary. A subject entered the residence through a window and stole $300.00 in U.S. currency. Investigation continues.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a subject drove into her yard, keyed her vehicle and then backed into it with his vehicle.
Feb. 7, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a burglary. Unknown person(s) entered his workshop and stole a variety of tools valued at $173.00. Investigation continues.
Feb. 7, answered a call to Bobby Van Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated an unknown person took one roll of copper wire from her yard valued at $600.00. Investigation continues.
Feb. 8, answered a call to Holmesville Road in reference to a theft. Fourteen ground leads and a five-foot piece of wire from a structure inside the fence from a Satilla REA Substation was stolen. Investigation continues.
Feb. 8, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to a shooting. Two friends were target shooting off of Highway 144 on one of the subjects private property. One of the subjects did not realize his rifle was loaded and shot his friend. He was transported to the Appling ER where he was then flown to Memorial in Savannah.
Feb. 9, answered a call to Varnadore Lane in reference to a suicide attempt. A subject had cut himself on the arm and went into a small field behind the residence. Appling EMT’s arrived, treated subject for wounds, and transported the subject to Appling Health Care for further medical treatment and mental evaluation.
Feb. 10, a routine traffic stop on Zoar Road/Crosby Chapel Church Road led to the arrest of Jerry Matthew Rich, age 21, of Baxley, and Frankie Elizabeth Faircloth, age 18, of Baxley. Rich was charged with possession of marijuana, drug related objects and tail lights required. Faircloth was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
Feb. 11, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassing phone calls. The complainant stated she received calls from a subject pretending to be from the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office wanting information.
Feb. 11, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft on Holt Rentz Road. The complainant stated his Summit 180 Max climbing stand valued at $350.00 was stolen from his hunting club property.
Feb. 13, answered a call to Phillip Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his residence was a stove, refrigerator, hot water heater, and dryer. The complainant stated he has a possible suspect. Investigation continues.
