The Appling County Pirates travelled to Toombs County on Friday, September 30 to face the Toombs County Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3) and were able to get the win 37-0. With the win the Pirates improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 2AA play. The Pirates will host the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers (2-3, 2-0) on Friday, October 7 for homecoming with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Scoring recap
The Pirates would get the first points of the contest on a safety due to a bad snap going over the Bulldog punter and out of the end-zone to make the score 2-0.
The Pirates would receive the free kick and start at their own 27. Later in the drive the Pirates would score on a six-yard touchdown run by CJ Nails. Israel Jaramillo would add the extra point to make the score 9-0.
The Pirates next scoring drive would start at their own 20 and would end with an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lashune Moore to Byron Buxton. Jaramillo added the extra point to make the score 16-0.
The Pirate defense would get the next score with Nails recovering a Bulldog fumble and falling into the end-zone. The extra point attempt by Jaramillo would be good making the score 23-0.
The Pirates would get the ball right back, with a fumble recovery by Quincy Reed during the kickoff return at the Bulldog 27. The Pirates would later score on a four-yard touchdown pass from Moore to Donnell McMillan making the score, with the extra point, 30-0.
The final score of the contest would come in the third quarter set up by a fumble recovery by Sammy Ryan. The Pirates would later score on a one-yard touchdown run by McMillan making the final score 37-0.
