Catherine Kirkland, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. She was born June 14, 1942 in Appling County and had lived here most of her life. Catherine was a homemaker and had attended Spring Branch Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Charles Kirkland and the late Lillie Yawn Young and the late Seaborn Young.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Kirkland of Baxley; three daughters, Cherise Kersey of Bartow, FL, Claudie Mae Suggs (Johnny) of Birmingham, AL and Kathy Teems of Bartow, FL; three sons, George W. McCulligh of Buford, James M. Teems of Dodge County and Brandon Shane Teems of Bartow, FL; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; niece, Clair Spell; nephew, Charles Hutchins and several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Hutchinson officiating. Interment followed in Baxley Graveyard.
Active pallbearers were Brandon Teems, William Suggs, David Suggs, Logan Elliott, Jody Elmose, Jason Kersey, Shaun Kersey and Kathy Teems.
Honorary pallbearers were Stevie Futch, Christopher Hutchins and Logan Elliott.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
