Appling HealthCare System and healthcare technology company SUNRx today announced the launch of a new partnership that will provide discount prescriptions to patients in southeast Georgia.
“This year marks our 60th year serving the citizens of the greater Appling County area,” said Dale Spell, CEO of Appling HealthCare System. “We are excited to recognize this moment in our organization’s history by introducing the new discount drug program that will make low-cost medications available to our patients and expand access to high-quality health care in our community.”
Appling HealthCare System’s discount prescription program is part of the Federal 340B Program. This government program grants health organizations significant discounts on medications and allows them to extend the savings to patients without insurance coverage.
But the benefits of the program don’t stop there. By participating in the program, patients with prescription coverage can help other, less fortunate families in the community. Under the program, every prescription paid by an insurer provides resources that Appling HealthCare System can use to serve those who are unable to pay for care.
“Many of our patients face costly medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and hypertension,” said Spell. “This program is critical for us to continue providing all of our patients with the care and medications they need without burning holes in their pockets.”
Appling General Hospital opened its doors in 1951 after members of the community identified the pressing need for affordable medical services in the area. Since that time, Appling HealthCare System has grown into a flourishing network of clinics offering low-cost emergency medical, pediatric, primary care and women’s health services.
Today, patients can participate in the 340B Program by presenting their 340B Program Card with their prescriptions at the following pharmacy partners: Abundant Life Pharmacy; Barnes Pharmacy; Stan’s Pharmacy; and Fulghum Drugs.
“Although we work with healthcare organizations across the nation, Appling HealthCare System’s commitment to providing high-quality care to the community stands out,” said Tim Liebmann, SUNRx Chairman and CEO. “We are honored to support its 60-year legacy of service, and to help reduce prescription costs in Appling County.”
