John Terry Carter
John Terry Carter, 42, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 in Appling Healthcare System. Mr. Carter was born Oct. 25, 1968 in Naples, FL and had resided in Baxley for most of his life. He was a pipe fitter and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was the son of the late John Leon Carter and Sarah Ruth Miller Burkett. He was preceded in death by a son, John Wade Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Dottie Carter of Baxley; three daughters, Marah Leigh Carter of Baxley, Chelsae Carter of Alma and Kayley Carter of the National Guard, currently stationed in MO; step-daughters, Tiffany Waters of Valdosta and Brittany Waters of Baxley; step-son, Kyle Waters of Jacksonville, FL; his mother, Sarah Burkett; one brother, Scott Carter and wife, Lisa of Surrency; step-sister, April Gay of Macon; step-brother, Jerry Moore of Macon; and five grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with the Rev. Sidney Thomas officiating. Interment followed in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kyle Waters, Joseph McNamara, Dan Brannon, Danny Lewis, Gregory Scott Carter and Derek Osterhout.
Musical selections were rendered by Danny Lewis and C. D. selections.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.

Terry, you will be missed. We had some good times growing up together lot of great memories. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. May peace be with you and your family.

Dottie,I am so sorry to hear of Terry's passing.He reminded me so much of Leon with his outgoing personality and friendliness.My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.I pray God will comfort you and help ease the pain as time goes by.Our family thought the world of him and I know having him to talk to helped Celia greatly after his daddy's passing.
