At the age of four, the Miami native moved to his mother’s hometown of Baxley, where he lived until he joined the Air Force immediately after high school graduation. In 1969, after eight years in the Air Force, Robert moved his family to Tampa where he began his career with General Telephone and Electronics. After retiring from GTE after 30 years of service, he volunteered for a time with a charity refurbishing computers for underprivileged students. He also spent much time volunteering at his church as treasurer of the Board and as computer guru. He was also readily available whenever his elderly friends and neighbors requested his handy man skills. In addition to being a generous friend and neighbor, Robert was a wonderful role model and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
A memorial service for Robert will take place at 3:00 p.m., October 1, at Unity of Tampa, 3302 W. Horatio Street, Tampa, FL 33609.
