Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Sept. 1, answered a call to Central Street in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that unknown person threw a rock and broke a window to his shop, but did not gain entry.
Sept. 2, answered a call to Oscar Tippins Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated an unknown person entered her vehicle and stole her purse.
Sept. 2, answered a call to Poor Robin Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle check resulted in the arrest of Jessica Christine Carter, 27, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with VGCSA/cocaine, no insurance, D.U.I./drugs/alcohol and suspended tag.

Sept. 2, answered a call to David Carter Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife are in the process of a divorce and was having a dispute over the vehicle.
Sept. 2, a routine license check on Lennox/Ben Carter Road resulted in the arrest of Dustin David Johnson, 21, of Baxley. Johnson was charged with D.U.I. and possession of marijuana.
Sept. 3, answered a call to Hovis Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated an unknown subject had forcibly entered the residence. Several items were taken, valued at $154.00. Investigation continues.
Sept. 3, answered a call to IGA parking lot in reference to theft by deception. The victim was scammed by a subject making up erroneous situations needing money. Jackie Ray Strickland, 40, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with exploitation of an elder person.
Sept. 4, answered a call to the Appling Healthcare Emergency Room in reference to domestic violence. A complainant stated he and his girlfriend got into a verbal confrontation, which led to a physical altercation. Madison Coreena Hughes, age seventeen, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Sept. 4, answered a call to Friendship Church Road in reference to a domestic. A complainant stated while visiting his girlfriend’s house a subject threw him off the porch. Responding officer saw no visible marks. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge, if warrants are to be taken.
Sept. 4, answered a call to Highway 15 South in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated two subjects continue to call and harass her.
Sept. 4, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a stolen dog. A complainant stated his dog is missing. The complainant stated his dog is a black and white, shitzu mixed with a poodle, valued at $400.00.
Sept. 5, answered a call to Arbor Drive in reference to a domestic dispute. A mother and a son had a confrontation. The mother did not want to press charges.
Sept. 5, answered a call to Deen’s Landing Road in reference to a burglary. A brick was thrown through a glass sliding door to gain entry to the residence. Investigation continues.
Sept. 5, answered a call to Yellow Pine Circle in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated that a subject continues to come to his residence to fight. Kenneth Sellers, 55, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Sept. 6, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a civil matter. The
complainant stated an unknown person put slanderous comments about him on Facebook causing him to loose friends and his job.
Sept. 6, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that copper wire had been stripped from his deep well.
Sept. 6, a routine check on a vehicle located on Satilla Church Road resulted in the arrest of Randy Glenn Harris, 41, of Baxley. Harris was arrested and charged with public drunkenness and obstruction of an officer.
Sept. 6, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft on Tower Road of Odum. The complainant stated her cell phone went missing after she had family members over for a meal. Investigation continues.
Sept. 7, answered a call to Davis Road in reference to damage to property/threats. A husband and wife are in the process of getting a divorce. The husband busted out the front door of residence and made threats.
Sept. 7, answered a call to Griffin Road in reference to a vehicle fire. The complainant stated the vehicle was in the driveway of their residence when it caught on fire doing damage to the bed liner and items in the back of the vehicle. The family members put the fire out with a water hose.
Sept. 7, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to a suicide attempt. The Appling EMS transported the subject to Appling ER after cutting his wrist.
Sept. 7, answered a call to South Main Street/Surrency in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a subject came to his residence and did damage to his front door. Officer saw no visible damage to door.
Sept. 7, answered a call to Daisy Lane in reference to an assault. A complainant stated a subject punched her in the face breaking her glasses. The officers could not locate the subject. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge to take warrants.
Sept. 7, answered a call to Appling Emergency Room in reference to a domestic dispute, which resulted in the arrest of Jarred Damian Anderson, 19, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with simple battery.
Sept. 7, answered a call to Ed Carter Road in reference to an unruly juvenile. A complainant stated the juvenile that lives with her has made threats toward her. The Juvenile Officer was called and the officer turned the juvenile over to a family member.
Sept. 8, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a theft. A complainant stated missing from his residence was a floor jack and two car batteries.
Sept. 8, answered a call to Wilson Crapps Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated someone came into their residence and took PS3 player and several games. No forced entry was noted. Investigation continues.
Sept. 8, a routine traffic stop on Jones Street/ Donnie Lane resulted in the arrest of Susan Thompson Harris, 40, of Baxley. Harris was charged with pills not in original container and possession of drug related object.
Sept. 9, a routine traffic stop on Hatch Parkway resulted in the arrest of Thomas Everette Smith, 39, of Jesup. Smith was charged with VGCSA/marijuana, transaction in drug related objects and speeding.
