S. Quincey (Buck) Hipps, 82, died early Sunday morning (September 4, 2011) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.
Buck was a native of Blackshear but had lived most of his life in Waycross. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.S. Hipps and Lula Johnson Hipps; a brother, Dempsey Hipps and two sisters, Fannie Alligood and Virginia Yawn. Mr. Hipps was a member of Deenwood Baptist Church and retired from Texas Gas after 37 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Hipps of Waycross; a daughter, Barbara S. Johnson (husband Walter) of Waycross; a son, Fulton Hipps (wife Dana) of Waycross; six grandchildren; seven and a half great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor Hipps of Baxley and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6 at Deenwood Baptist Church. Burial was in Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst. The family received friends at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00a.m.
Music Funeral Home of Waycross was in charge of arrangements.
