Aug. 27, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was found left in a hazardous position on a highway. The owner of the vehicle could not be located and was towed.

Aug. 27, a complainant came to Appling County Sheriff’s Office concerning a child custody dispute. The complainant was advised to contact their attorney.
Aug. 27, answered a call to Varnadore Lane in reference to child abuse. The neighbor’s children came to the complainant’s home with marks on them. The DFAC’s was notified and investigation continues.
Aug. 27, Answered a call to Miles Chapel Church Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown person(s) pried open the back door to their residence and took an undetermined amount of items.
Aug. 27, answered a call to PF McLain Road in reference to threats. The complainant stated she and her husband are in the process of a divorce and he continues to send threatening messages on her phone.
Aug. 27, answered a call to Surrency Food Mart/Surrency in reference to a burglary. Unknown subject knocked out blocks to rear of store to gain entry.
Investigation continues.
Aug. 28, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) kicked back door open, entered the residence and stole numerous items. Investigation continues.
Aug. 28, answered a call to Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child custody dispute. One party accused the other party of an assault. The subjects were advised to see the magistrate judge.
Aug. 28, answered a call to Parker’s in Surrency in reference to a child custody dispute. The ex-wife refused to bring the children to their father after visitation.
Aug. 28, a complainant came to Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report financial fraud transaction. Two draft transactions were taken from complainant’s bank account that was not the complainant’s. Investigation continues.
Aug. 28, answered a call to Cross Road in reference to a possible attempted suicide. The victim was eight months pregnant and was taken to Appling Emergency Room to be evaluated.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a theft. The
landlord stated a renter moved from the residence also taking the stove, oven and three ceiling fans, valued at $1,200.00. The landlord was advised to see the magistrate office to obtain a warrant.
Aug. 29, answered a call to David Carter Road in reference to an attempted suicide. A complainant stated subject had a knife and cut her wrist several times. The subject was taken to Appling ER for treatment and evaluation.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Dolly Lane in reference to a possible overdose. A complainant stated her daughter and a friend took an overdose of pills that were not prescribed to them. The daughter and friend were taken to Appling ER for evaluation.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Highway 341 West in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated unknown person(s) cut the lock to the gate and pried open the back door of the residence. The complainant stated nothing was missing at this time.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to a family domestic dispute. A mother and a son had a confrontation. David Michael Maze, 42, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property - first degree.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Jekyll Road in reference to a civil matter. The landlord stated renters left the residence in total disarray.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Jekyll Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated taken from his residence was a 40-inch T.V. and a Blue Ray player.
Aug. 30, answered a call to Agnes Williams Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife that had been separated for several months had a verbal dispute.
Aug. 30, answered a call to Spring Branch Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated his 1987 Nissan pickup was missing, and a neighbor had seen a subject pulling his truck. The complainant also stated 80 sheets of tin were missing from the residence. Investigation continues.
Aug. 30, answered a call to J.R. Harper Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated she and another subject had an argument and the subject pushed her down. The subject had left the residence before officer arrived.
Aug. 30, answered a call to Griffin Road in reference to a welfare check. A concerned citizen stated a mother and child were living in a barn. The child was located with a grandmother at a different location. The Department of Family and Children’s Services was notified.
Aug. 30, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a landline dispute. Parties stated property is in a pending land line case.
Aug. 30, a complainant came to Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. The complainant stated take from his residence was a heart shaped pendant, valued at $300.00. An investigation resulted in the arrest of James Michael Overstreet, 22, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with theft by taking.
Aug. 30, complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. The complainant stated she had a large amount of jewelry in her pocketbook that was missing.
Aug. 31, answered a call to Appling Healthcare Emergency Room in reference to an affray. The subject stated he and a fellow worker had an altercation at the work place, which resulted in an injury.
Aug. 31, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant left the residence before officer arrived. The complainant stated a verbal dispute was between acquaintances.
Aug. 31, answered a call to Deen’s Landing Road at Baxley Wilderness Institute in reference to a juvenile complaint. The complainant stated a juvenile had assaulted a staff member. The juvenile was transported to the Appling Detention Center, where the Department of Juvenile Justice Officer was notified. The juvenile was later transported to Claxton YDC.
Aug. 31, answered a call to Miles Chapel Church Road in reference to a domestic. A dispute involved family members with a gun. John Allison Butler, 68, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and aggravated Assault on a police officer.
Aug. 31, answered a call to Veal Camp Road in reference to a tractor fire. The victim stated his tractor caught on fire, which resulted in considerable damage to the tractor.
Aug. 31, answered a call to Acorn Lane in reference to a civil dispute. Family members were having a dispute over estate items.
Sept. 1, answered a call to Eula Courson Road in reference to burglaries. The
Complainants’ stated while out of town their mobile homes had been broken into and several items had been taken. Investigation continues.
Sept. 1, a victim in Wayne County stated she was kidnapped at knifepoint, taken to Appling County and raped. John Thigpen, 42, of Baxley, has been arrested and charged with rape and aggravated sodomy.
Sheriff Deloach asks that if anyone notices any suspicious activity to please report it to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office at 367-8120.
